The dress is designed with simple lines and was fun and easy to sew. It is perfect for beginners. The pattern comes in sizes 2-10 and there are great instructions for altering the fit as needed. My sister is tall for her age, so I sewed a size 3 width with size 4 length in the bodice and the fit is perfect! I also lengthened the skirt to make it more of a maxi length. As a result it has a great twirl factor!
I love the simple neckline and dolman sleeves. The sleeves are built right into the bodice pattern making this dress quick and easy to sew together! There are only a few pattern pieces, so it is very simple to tape together and cut out.
I used a cotton jersey from my fabric stash. It is mid-weight and very stable. Liz recommends knit with at least 25% stretch for this pattern. This fabric was perfect - something I've had in my stash for the last few years.
It was simple to hack this into a maxi length. All I did was trace the pattern as is and then added length from the hem.
Miss V loves her new dress and couldn't wait for me to finish it! The pattern instructions were very detailed and after cutting I only spent a couple hours sewing.
The dress has simple, clean lines which I love. The simple lines allow lots of opportunity for making the dress your own. It is a great design for a 3 year old on the move. I know I will be making more of these dresses (and the peplum top version) for my sister this summer. This was my first experience with a Thread Faction pattern and I was very impressed!

This is pretty! I would choose the tank top but I also want the shorties and the peplum/dress.
ReplyDeleteI just love the maxi dress hack, not something I thought of and it just looks amazing :)
ReplyDeleteI love 107 and it's definitely the one I'll get if I win!
ReplyDeleteI would choose the peplum dress I think. It is hard to make up my mind and I never win.
ReplyDeleteI think I would get the peplum dress but it is really hard to choose
ReplyDeleteI love this little dress. I love the little skirts and tops. Knits are my favorites for sewing for kids.
ReplyDeleteSo hard to choose a favorite, but I think I would get the romper. I don't have any romper patterns yet and it would look so cute on my daughter! I love your maxi dress, though.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is this one, 108. I just love the skirt.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a perfect hack of this pattern. I think I'm going to have to try it myself!
ReplyDeleteWOW! I LOVE the idea of a maxi w/ the dress pattern! If I win I will SEW choose the romper! Thanks for 'touring' & for the giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteI like your maxi version. Pattern#108 would be the one I choose.
ReplyDeleteIt's easy to see she loves the dress! Isn't it fun to sew for little sisters? And with the maxi length this looks like one that will fit her for a while! I sewed a dress with my littlest sister 2.5 years ago for her birthday and I saw her wearing it again just recently...apparently she hasn't grown all that much, haha!
ReplyDeleteI love the skater skort, but this maxi length that you made the dolman sleeve dress has moved it up to a tie for my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the romper and tank but the whole collection is cute!!
ReplyDeleteI already purchased a few from the collection, but would want the dress if I win. Thanks for the opportunity, and I love your dress!
ReplyDeleteThe maxi hack is a fun idea. I think my three year old daughter would love the twirl factor, too! I have the peplum/dress and skirts/shorts, but can't wait to add the racer back tank and the bubble shorts.
ReplyDeleteI never would have thought to make it a maxi- such a fun idea, and i love how it turned out!
ReplyDeleteWow Elizabeth she is getting so big!! Love the dress, she looks so cute in it
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet dress, the sleeves are very nice and give that little bit more sun coverage.
