Coco // What Does the Fox Say?

Recently, I have found some fun new blogs to follow. One I have been reading is Tilly and the Buttons and I happened to find it just as Tilly was releasing her new pattern, Coco. It can be made as a dress or a top and there is also a variation for a sixties style funnel neck (my favorite!) and rolled cuffs. I made the three quarter length sleeves but there's also an option for long sleeves.

I was first inspired to use this fox fabric from Girl Charlee when I saw this post from Fashion and Fishing. Then, a few weeks later, I read this post from Sew Caroline and knew I had to make a fox tee! The fabric is a cotton jersey knit with 25% stretch - perfect for the Coco as Tilly designed it for fabrics little stretch.

The foxes are so fun and the Coco is so comfortable to wear! I have already worn this top twice this week. It's perfect for everyday wear. The pattern instructions are very easy to follow. I have the pdf version (it also comes in a paper, hardcopy form) and Tilly also has a sew-along for the Coco on her blog with lots of pictures and extra detail.

I especially love the side splits. I didn't make any changes to the pattern except for using a twin needle for the hem, sleeve hem and neckline. The twin needle worked perfectly once I figured out the right settings for my machine! It was a trial and error process, but worth it. I also used hemming tape, as suggested in the pattern for the neckline to help make it more stable. It was fusible and double sided which meant I also didn't need pins when sewing the neckline!

Because it's perfectly normal to take blog pictures by your favorite fruit at the grocery store...right? :)

I love the Coco! I think it would be really cute in stripe fabric or polka dots and even a solid. Coco has a simple design, but there are so many possibilities! How would you wear it?
